Core Entertainment Set To Light Up Live For Event Industry

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

(Hamilton, ON) – Spectra, providers of Venue Management for Core Entertainment venues FirstOntario Centre, FirstOntario Concert Hall, and The Studio, will be joining forces with its sister Spectra venues and other landmark venues across Canada for the Day of Visibility. Event organizers all over Canada will be lighting up their venues, buildings, and marquees across the country in red on Tuesday, September 22, 2020. The Day of Visibility raises awareness for an industry that remains in the dark and for the Canadians who work in a job that supports the live event industry in some way.

Live Event Community, an organization formed to support Canadian live event workers who have lost their livelihoods due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, is organizing the day. Live Event Community is asking technicians, suppliers, and venues across Canada to light the night red one hour after sundown to raise awareness for an industry that is still dark – and will be one of the last to recover.

"We stand in solidarity with Live Event Community and the entire event industry, said Andrew Nash, General Manager of Spectra managed Core Entertainment and its venues. "The live event industry is but one of the industry's that has been devastated by this pandemic, and we truly cannot wait to be together again when it is safe to do so."

Spectra managed venues across Canada participating include:

  • Tribute Communities Centre – Oshawa, Ontario
  • Budweiser Gardens – London, Ontario
  • Abbotsford Events Centre – Abbotsford, British Columbia
  • South Okanagan Events Centre – Penticton, British Columbia
  • Encana Events Centre – Dawson Creek, British Columbia

Visit https://lightuplive.ca to add your venue to the interactive map and use the hashtags #LightUpLive / #EclaironsLesScenes on social media during the Day of Visibility.

The Day of Visibility for the Live Event Community will run Tuesday, September 22, 2020, starting an hour after sundown, coast to coast. Follow along at https://lightuplive.ca. Live event workers looking for resources can visit https://liveeventcommunity.org
